If you’re like the near 2 billion people that use Facebook then you probably spend a fair amount of your time on this popular platform, if that’s the case then the question you should be asking yourself should be, is it possible to make money on Facebook?
Well that’s exactly what todays’ post is about and we’re going to give you some good ideas as to how to make use of one of the biggest social media platforms out there today to make you some money off it.
One of the biggest advantages of using Facebook is that you really don’t even need a website to be able to monetize offers.

#1. BECOME A MICRO INFLUENCER
You may have heard the term ‘influencer’ before, but not perhaps ‘micro influencer’, well the concept is exactly the same only on a smaller scale so if thought you would never be able to become one, well think again.
Micro influencers will typically have around 2,000 followers and interact with their audience on a daily basis.
These types of influencers can expect to charge anywhere from $250 to around $500 for a single post and from the research i’ve carried out for this it seems that the micro influencer is gaining a lot of traction in the social marketing world.
So if you have 2,000 followers or more it might be worth a look into this growing area.
FYI Amazon has started its own influencer program, the criteria of which is a little bit vague, but i would assume that you are going to need a fairly large following.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#2. FACEBOOK BUG BOUNTY PROGRAM
Are you good with computer code? If you are then you are really going to like this one.
Did you know that Facebook have paid out over $5 million in the six years it’s been operational.
It could be time to embrace your inner geek and learn some code people.
It’s all about finding flaws in the security of the platform and facebook are willing to throw a lot of money at it to close these flaws.
Payouts are all based on the severity of the issue, but i believe the minimum payout is around $500.
In march 2016 it was reported Anand Prakash was paid $15,000 for finding a flaw in their account security.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#3. FRIEND REFERRALS
There are lots of companies and even cash back apps out there that will pay you simply for referring people you know.
One such company is Swagbucks. They run a referral program where they pay you 500 sb for simply referring people to sign up with them, you then also get 10% of their earnings for life. And there are many more companies that do that.
An example of an app is the Dosh cash back app, they give you $5 for each referral that signs up. Not bad for simply recommending something that will actually save/make money for the referral.
Just don’t over do it, by that i mean help people don’t spam people.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#4. AFFILIATE OFFERS
This is by far my favourite way of making money, i do it a different way by means of websites that i build, but don’t let that put you off, you can easily either set up or join a Facebook group in a particular niche and you can simply join an affiliate program which are free to join by the way, grab your affiliate link for the product you want to promote and just post to the group making sure what you offer is going to be of value to everyone.
Again don’t be spammy with your links, also if it’s not your group you may need to get approval from the owner/administrator.
Amazon run a program called Amazon associates and this is a great program to join because they have such a vast array of products you’re sure to find something to promote.
Now this doesn’t have to stop at physical products, you can promote digital products as well.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#5. FACEBOOK LIVE
If you have at least 2,000 followers and you can keep 300 of them entertained then you might well be eligible to take part in Ad Breaks.
This is Facebooks’ way of letting their users’ make some money off their live streaming. Facebook will invite you if you meet the criteria, if you do get an invite and accept then the next time you go live you will get a $ show up at the bottom of your screen, simply click on it to start inserting ad breaks into your live stream.
Ads last around 15 seconds there is a counter in the corner letting your audience know when you’ll be back, but you have to have been live for at least four minutes before your first ad, after that you can insert more as long as they have at least a five minute gap between each one.
Like Youtube, facebook will pay you 55% of all ad revenue and when you’ve reached $100 you can cash out.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#6. SPONSORED POSTS
Did you know that companies will pay you to promote their product/services to your followers? If you have a large number of followers you can easily expect to recieve anywhere from $50 to $1000, this all depends on the size of your audience as well how targeted it is relating to the company who’s doing the sponsoring.
It’s simply a case of writing a post showcasing the positives about their product/services, your audience reads it and if interested, goes to the company to make a purchase, hopefully a large number will take your recommendation which means sales for the sponsor.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#7. EBAY FB APP
Do you like selling on Ebay, have an Ebay store? then why not link it directly to your FB page? Auction Items is an app that does just that so once you’ve installed it on your FB page your followers can easily see what you’ve got for sale on Ebay without having to leave Facebook.
As well as buying your audience also have the choice of sharing, tweeting and pinning to Pinterest.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#8. SHOUTOUTS
This works by leveraging your larger audience to help out smaller pages. By giving a shoutout you’re giving these smaller pages a greater exposure than they would normally get and you’re getting paid for doing so. Everyone’s a winner.
This is probably better known as an Instagram method, but works just as well on FB.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#9. SELL OLD ACCOUNTS
You may be a person that made several accounts when first starting on FB and didn’t really do anything with them so they just sat there getting old.
There are companies that buy/sell aged accounts simply because FB seems to give more weight to old accounts.
Depending on the age, group age, likes etc will determine how much it will be worth, but you can expect around $100 – $200.[su_divider top=”no” divider_color=”#d0d0d0″]
#10. DRIVING TRAFFIC TO A WEBSITE
This one is similar to #4, but gets around the fact that even though you certainly can post affiliate links on Facebook you might want to funnel your audience to your website instead. You’ve got a big following on FB and an ideal opportunity to send traffic and monetize that traffic through different offers on your site.
You can make use of FB ads to reach a bigger, targeted audience although this is going to cost you some money, but the resulting increase in traffic should far outweigh that outlay.
Another thing to remember is the website belongs to you which means you’re in control.
If you haven’t got a website, but like the idea of having one , but don’t know where to start i can show you how to create one in 30 seconds for free and how to make the best use of it to make you money with it.
So there you have 10 great ways to make money on Facebook. Do you have a favourite one? Or do you use another method that i haven’t covered? Let everyone know what you think in the comments belows.
I have come across many online income methods earlier but I did not how to use Facebook to earn money. And this great post works as eyeopener for many like me. The ways how one can make money through facebook is really great. I’ll definitely try some ways you have mentioned in this great post.
Thank you.
Good job, hope you have some success 🙂
This is really interesting about facbook, I always wondered if people actually made any money worth talking about on facebook. I never heard about most of these ideas, in particular the friend referrals, affiliate offers and facebook live. I will try to implement 2 or 3 starting off – great help – thanks alot
Posting a link on your facebook page for your friends to sign up to places like Swagbucks is a great way to make a bit of extra money, the same as the affiliate offers. Just don’t over do it…remember they are your friends and don’t want to be constantly bombarded with your recommendations 🙂
Great post this has given some ideas to make money with Facebook.
I didn’t realize that you could sell old accounts. I just happen to have one and I will look into selling it.
Affiliate offers seems like the best way to go especially if you have a loyal following.
Have you had much luck with the affiliate offers and how often do you use them in your posts?
Hey Chris, i usually try to use affiliate links about every 3-4 post as not to over do it, i’m in quite a good ‘buying’ group and i do it by way of when i buy something i let people know about it and where they can get one from if they want to.
